The Friends of Library (FOL), a nonprofit, of Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library is partnering with 5C Academy, a 501c3 nonprofit, to offer computer science and robotics courses at your local Ponte Vedra Beach Library. This partnership is working to promote computational thinking in early education and beyond.
FOL is a nonprofit organization that has helped raise funds to support the Ponte Vedra Beach Public library for the last 30 years. To learn more about the FOL of PVB library, please visit folpvbfl.org.
Computational Thinking – is a problem-solving process that includes several characteristics and dispositions. Computational thinking is essential to the development of computer applications, but it can also be used to support problem-solving across all disciplines, including the humanities, math, and science. Students who learn computational thinking across the curriculum can begin to see a relationship between academic subjects, as well as between life inside and outside of the classroom.
Each class will require a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 10 students. If more than 16 students are interested, a second session will be opened to accommodate the overflow. We are always opening new classes, so don’t be worried if one is full.
Every 5C class is $126 per student. This covers a full 8-week program. FOL member will receive a 10% discount per student. To become a FOL member, please visit folpvbfl.org
There is no refund policy currently due to the reasonable cost for classes. All tuition from classes is used to help hire teachers, increase the participation rate of the under-served population, and to acquire equipment for the under-served students to learn.
100% refund policy if a scheduled class is canceled due to a low number of student sign-up.
To take advantage of the 10% discount, please go to folpvbfl.org to donate as a FOL member. After that click here to register for classes!
Please email Danny Chu at info@5cacademy.org if there are any questions.
